More reasons to love Monte

What else is different?
Lots of things. For example: magic. The spellcasting classes have mostly new spells. The magic system is very different in many ways, actually -- particularly in the creation of magic items and in the flexibility of the spells. Anyone who's a little tired of the traditional "prepare, then cast" method of handling spells will find the ability to alter the a spell's power and weave together minor spells into larger ones very interesting and fun. Individual casters can tailor the spells they know to make them unique.

And that's just for starters. There's new equipment, weapons, and armor. Alignment is gone. The concept of arcane and divine magic is gone. And lots more.

After reading this question and answer on the faq, I am going to buy this book the day it comes out. I am going to GenCon and order one online just in case I don't make it to GenCon, but I am going to the Con. I want this book. Finally, a writer who has decided to write magic classes that don't do the arcane and divine and definately doesn't plan on fire and forget. OMG, there is a God after all.

"Hmm.... In Rolemaster, there is a race EXACTLY like this called the Sibbicai, who happen to be somewhat feral humanoid canines, whose name is pronounced EXACTLY the same....."

Hmm... and who wrote the book where they appeared, and recently regained the rights to the material? :)

Monte, you're my hero! Way to do the smackdown.

As with most stuff you do, this sounds like it will get on my purchase list. Very interesting stuff.

Monte, you are a golden god. I am thankful that you walk among men. And that I can buy your thoughts in a convenient, bound, paper form, rather than having to bludgeon open your head and eat the gooey insides.

I mean. Uhh.

I'm going to buy the book.

Disregard that part before "I'm going to buy the book."

I might not JUST use AU as my new player's handbook, but I will definately use the ideas in it.

Because you rock.

I admit I've made taking shots at Monte something of a habit over the past few months, but if he can fix the D&D magic system, then I'm his b*tch forever.

I must say my curiosity is more than a little piqued by this...

Ooh! Ooh! Can I be Ruin Explorer?

(ahem)

You have absolutely NO PROOF that Sibbicai were intended to be used in that role, NO PROOF whatsoever! I demand that you produce proof of your claims. I'm calling you on this! Can you produce proof or are you going to pretend you never saw this post? I'm going to keep calling you on this, y'know! I demand you to back up your claims with proof...

Do you think Cyberzombie will let anyone else be CZ this time around?

And the improvements we can make to the faptheon...

Hey Monte,

Arcana Unearthed sounds very intriguing and refreshing; I'm looking forward to it.

Mark Zug's art is great (both the cover of AU and in general). Will we see any of Mark's work inside the book? What other artists will be doing interior work, and will any (or all) of it be in color?

Thanks!
