I'm in, and I'm sure JC is too.

I LOVE the idea of getting them to Gen Con next year, but unless we can scrounge up (at least) airfare for one of them, that's not a good gift at all. The airfare and hotel are the expensive parts, not the badges! ;)

I have surreptitiously discovered that the newlyweds do indeed plan to go to Gen Con next year. So, I think we have a clear path of giftiness.

Low ($50) -- Gnomes, random stuff.

Medium ($150) -- Badges to Gen Con.

High (~$1000) -- Room at the Embassy. (There will probably be Gen Con discounts later on, but right now a room goes for about $200 a night.)

Crazy (~$3000?) -- Airfare.

How does that sound? I can set up a PayPal account for this this evening.

I set up a fresh account for contributions to the "Get Russ and his new wife something as a wedding gift" fund. Our target goal is $3000, with milestones at $50, $150, and $1000. So if you want your action points, let's drum up support.

The address is rnock(at)emory(dot)edu. (edit: That's RNOCK not MOCK, sorry for the confusion). I believe you want to send it as a 'personal payment' as opposed to a 'purchase payment.' Let me know if you want your contribution to be anonymous; if not, please include your screen name when you donate. I plan to keep a list in this thread and when we give Russ the gift I'll repost the list there.

If anyone has trouble with PayPal, we can figure something out.

Sound good? Any questions? (If anyone has any concerns about transparency, I think we could arrange for a mod or someone else the community trusts to also have access to the account to verify the total money received.)

Money Sent.

Once this gets going, perhaps you can give us updates of the total? It would be great to give them the accomodation or even the airfare.

Best Regards
