Most expensive ebook ever!

well, for your next trick tell us how you managed to install it on Windows 98.

My old 98 box is my web development box. I've tried upgrading it to various other windows OSes that include some version of IIS, but the damned things always fail at some point in the process.

Just d-load Acrobat Reader 6 and install. Installs just like it does on every other Windows version. As for installing a Windows OS with some version of IIS included (guessing you are attempting to install Win2k Server [or Advanced], WinXP Pro, or Win2k3), if it crashes out during install, it is either a bad CD or a hardware problem (the latter of which wouldn't surprise me with Windows :)).

The thing is, there are two Win98s. There's Windows 98, and there's Windows 98 Second Edition (often referred to as "Win 98 SE"). The former is not capable of running Acrobat 6 - or at least, Reader won't install.

I have the Adobe 6 reader running on my Celeron 450MHz laptop with Windows 98SE. I haven't tried the DRM stuff on it, but the reader works fine. (I installed the file I downloaded from Adobe's website--no problems.)

Aha! That is the problem! And lucky me, I'm running Windows 98 SE and didn't even realize it. So e-Exalted is free after all. Thanks, guys!

P.S. As much as I view the DRM thing as a needless inconvenience, you have to give DriveThruRPG props for giving us free, quality products with which to test their system.

Yep. When I mentioned the stuff above, I spaced on that. Been a long time since I've seen 98 (Hell, we are still migrating some of our offices from WinNT  , so I've spent a lot of time with that "fun" OS lately.)

You could probably have gone to your local library and opened and printed it on their bill ;) that you've already covered in taxes. I've done that more than once to print a netbook -- I figure since they've taken so much of my money they can print my netbook for me. Also...if joe schmo can view porn on the computer I'm paying to power he can pay for my book
Hehe...looks like the problem is solved already however ;)

There is that. At least I didn't pay for the stuff that I deleted off my hard drive in frustration. If I had I'd have been extremely upset. I kept up with downloading, signing up, registering, and so on for about 45 minutes before giving up the ghost. And I discovered that I HATE acrobat 6. I didn't think it was possible for Acrobat to get any more bloated and slow, but it did. I can barely stand 5!
