The Hilton is a bit of a stroll from the convention center, but the rooms are huge and the beds are comfy.
Aside from the elevator issue, the only other downside to the Embassy Suites is that they aren't very wheelchair/wheeled suitcase friendly. If you tote one of those wheeled backpacks, you're not going to enjoy the stairs twice (or more) daily.
The Crowne Plaza was pretty close, being just across the street from the RCA dome and a block away from some of the bars/resturants downtown. Our room was a little cramped, and I don't know what the rooms they set up inside the decomissioned trains were like, but I expect they were pretty small as well. They did have gaming tables and two computers for net crawling, but the lighting was a little dim, which made for squinty gaming, not so good late at night...
