Most superfluous rule?

That rule was so blatantly crappy they removed it from 3.5. :)
Wow, first they drop the 1d6 closest creatures from color spray and now this... one of these days I should really read 3.5 cover to cover.

That's what she said. :p

Seriously, though, I've house-ruled that after you've done x amount of damage, the purple worm/t-rex/whatever-it-was-that-swallowed you just vomits you out automatically.
1) *lol*

2) That's frigging awesome. *yoink*

Heh. Did you actually perceive a difference here, or were you just being ironic? (in which case: well played... it met the earlier mentioned requisite for being both redundant and repetitious)

Thank you, its nice to be appreciated :D

Death from Massive Damage: While theoretically possible, in twenty to thirty applications, nothing ever has yet lived through the damage but failed the Fort save.

In all my years of DM-ing, this happened once, and it happened recently. I am running my players through the Shackled City Adventure Path, and they fought some hill giants. The party's 10th-level warmage casts some spell (fireball, I think). He has his character twinked out to, potentially, do huge amounts of damage.

Anyway, his spell does over 50 h.p. in damage. Of the three hill giants, one of them saves, and the other two fail their save. One of the ones who failed his save rolled a natural 1, so not only is massive damage kicking in, so is damage to an item. His only possession is his hide armor, so it burns and falls off, leaving him naked.

Massive damage kicks in. One of them makes his Fort save...and the other one (the naked one) rolls another natural 1. So, he keels over, dead.

The players joke that he died of embarrassment rather than of massive damage.

Later,

Atavar

The rule that you can draw a weapon during a move...as long as your BAB is +1. So everyone can do it....except 1st level non-melee characters. Whew, glad they caught that one! That would have been seriously unbalanced!
