Well I grabbed up a download of The Killing Jar today. Having a PDF on my gaming computer is actually more useful to me than having a print copy of the work, and with free printing at work, I can print any pages I need.
At any rate ... I'm going to be adjusting the adventure, I think, for a Call Of Cthulhu style campaign. The BIGGEST problem I have with the adventure is THE MOTHMAN (mothMEN?) ...
I came at the Mothman from the angle of trying to work in the whole Mothman mythos ... Bruce just made them Xenomorphic Native Americans. Dunno, didn't sit right for me.
I LIKE the adventure, it's good, but it seems a little disparate. There's so much that could be done with Pt. Pleasant and the Mothman and both end up being a side-note in a traditional "Horror From Beyond/ Science Gone Wrong" adventure having nothing to do with them.
I think I'll build up a big Mothman mythos and then introduce the Killing Jar episode modified from that. CoC the Primary could be an avatar of the Goat of the Black Woods ... or an Old One. The doorway, etc, becomes a crossover space from The Dreamlands.
At any rate, about 70% of the flavor work from The Killing Jar is useful for me. Seeing as I paid about 4.25 for it, I think I got my money's worth from it.
And TEITAN, thanks for your posts on your experiences with Mothman country and the people that lived through it. Very interesting and useful information.
