Mount armor!

I wanna see who an come up with the best armor for a large non-humanoid mount. Take everything into consideration (including, even especially, cost!).

Any kind of metal or any kind of magical enchantment is welcome but keep in mind somebody could create just as good as armor with a different combination of metals/magic for cheaper. And the armor must be considered light for penalty purposes as the creature can fly!

It's pretty much sure to be Mithril Breastplate Barding +whatever you can afford under those circumstances.

Which enhancements you pick depends on the mount's abilities and the character's style and such.

Mithril Barding of Speed

agreed that medium mithril barding of speed would be some of the best available.... the problem with that is that your not taking cost into consideration.

Medium mithral costs

medium mithril breastplate
(200g base + 150g masterwork +4000g Mithral material)x4 Barding for a large non-humanoid creature. +16,000g for the speed enhancement (it counts as plus 4 if you look at the mithril full plate)

makes.... 33,400g

thats not exactly ideal by financial means, and its still just only +1 AC better then the light armor (given it has armor check penalties reduced and all that jazz with mithril)

(100g +150g masterwork)x4 Barding for large non-humanoid creature
makes.... 1000g for one less AC and roughly the same dex and ACP. (no speed bonus but that costs 16,000 so it would still be 16,400g difference [33,400-17,000] )

Mithral includes masterwork built-in, and you don't multiply add-on costs by 4 anyway, just the base price. You're price is way too high.

What spells can reflect an area effect spell back at the caster, or at least stop them without adversally effeecting the rider? That seems appropriate.
