Mountain Giant CR

Did WotC ever errata the Challenge Rating for mountain giants (from MMII)? I remember a lot of complaints about that one (26 being pretty darn high) but I don't recall seeing anything from Wizards.

Nope. I'm about to run one in a few weeks at CR 16, as many folks suggested on the threads earlier.

Please post your after action report -- I'd be interesting in reading about your results.

Where Can I Get Me One of Those?

I've been quite alarmed by that MMII giant, also. Especially since I've been running the "Liberation of Geoff" book which has at least one in it.

Where can I get me a CR 16 mountain giant? Or can you tell me what changes to make so I can get my own, please?

Tanks!

one can always scale the ones in the book down... :) making adjustments where appropriate of course. :)

Okay. I had thought of that, but do you have any specific suggestions? I'm always kind of nervous when it comes to tweaking monsters outside of adding HD or levels....

well, let's see. a storm giant is CR 13, with 19-HD. so, if you want a CR 16 Mountain Giant, i'll guess off the top of my head that maybe 23 HD will do.

classic mountain giants were 14 feet tall, but giants were scaled down a bit - if you want a straight conversion that way, they'd need to be 8-9 feet tall and Large size. that depends on if you want to shrink them from colossal or not! i would only adjust their physical stats by how much you decrease their size, if at all.

that should get you started!
