Movie Titles for 2010

At the mountains of madness is still clinging to it's 2010 date. Though if del-toro gets "The hobbit", the wait is going to be a lot longer.

Now, hold on a second, how did I miss that this was being done. At the Mountains of Madness? That is the single most incredible piece of movie news I've heard since they announced The Lord of the Rings.

Video game adaptations as a rule suck, so I don't think it'll be any different here. Besides, I don't see how you can make a superhero flick with a city full of 'em and not have it come off like Sky High.

The first Tomb Raider film did pretty well for a videogame adaptation.

As for City of Heroes, we already have it. It's Disney/PIXAR film called The Incredibles.

Whoa. Been quite a while since I saw The Last Starfighter, but this is intriguing to say the least. I'll reserve judgement if and when this comes out.

I think I should go rent/buy the DVD to refresh myself.

Okay, now you're asking trouble here. How to make an adaptation of a classic 80's cartoon without it coming off like some Star Wars ripoff? Plus you have the pressure of being compared to the original Japanese series (Super Dimensional Fortress Macross) it was based on.

Robotech = Star Wars ripoff???

The only difference is that Luke didn't get the girl at the end of the film. That would be incest if that happens.

In Robotech it's a love triangle between a boy-man, a younger girl, and an older woman.

Of course, there are some things that I honestly believe should not carry over from animation to live-action, like having the Minmay character sings to affect the loveless Zentraedi's psyche. Too mushy.

Uhm... no. I liked Voltron as a kid, but I can't see how you can make this and not be compared to the Power Rangers.

I try not to. I'm too much of a sentai fan, way out here in the Pacific.

The Robotech one is likely to be the sequel to the Shadow Chronicles animated feature released last year. I have read that it did well for them, and they were planning a sequel.

Actually, Tobey Maguire and his production company (in collaboration with Warner Brothers) have expressed interest in making a live-action Robotech.
