Movie Titles for 2010

It's amazing how many TV show adaptions (A Team, Have Gun Will Travel, Hawaii 5-0, I dream of Jeanie, etc), and how many video game movies (he got a lot of them, but also Devil May Cry, Joust, Mortal Kombat, etc).

That's because Hollywood's well has mostly dried up, to where they need to make lots of sequels and adaptations just to try and get people going to the movies. Much as I like the occasional movie based on a book or comic book, I'd rather see cool new stuff in the theaters rather than retreads of the same stuff I've already read/watched before.

What and when was the last Hollywood film that was original?

Now, that's a great question.
Forgive my old memory, but I don't know of any film after Star Wars that is an original screenplay film.

But then, I don't give a Yoda's arse. As long as the film can entertain me through its running length, and doesn't feel like I've wasted 90 to 140 minutes of my life.

I'm not picky nor refined. I'm a geek.

A movie scheduled for 2010 is another way of saying a movie still in the concept stage, and not necessarily one that will actually be made.

I, Robot 2? I was pleasantly surprised with the 1, but I was really hoping it was a one and done deal.

I honestly feel like Independence Day had better fodder for a sequel than I, Robot. Emmerich may make mindless movies, but I'll give him credit for not making sequels.

In Robotech it's a love triangle between a boy-man, a younger girl, and an older woman.

Of course, there are some things that I honestly believe should not carry over from animation to live-action, like having the Minmay character sings to affect the loveless Zentraedi's psyche. Too mushy.

Hrm. It's been a LONG time since I read any of the novelizations, and never saw the show, but one might could BSG it a bit, having the SDF-1 lure the Zentraedi fleet away from Earth in an attempt to buy time for the humans to figure out this stuff so they could stand a chance.

I try not to. I'm too much of a sentai fan, way out here in the Pacific.

I actually liked the Car Voltron about as well as I liked the Lion one, mostly because the Car Voltron episodes had a much higher rate of capitol ship on capitol ship combat. One episode I remember had a UNREP convoy heading to the Voltron carrier being attacked, and the escorts having to sacrifice themselves so even one transport could get through. That was surprisingly hardcore.

Should be titled II, Robot. :)

There were rumors going around of a sequel to ID4, that would mostly be on the ground. If I were writing one, one or two of the destroyers would have been crippled but not actually destroyed, and were busy Von Neumanning out an army.
