Moving on

After leaving Jehan, Yelena and Talia, Talon and Katya head into the city for supplies.
Talon has some very set ideas of what is needed, and takes time to speak with a smith, as well as some clerics.
Her requests will take some time to get ready, so, the ladies remain in the city.
As they relax and eat, Talon notices a figure watching them. She doesn't look directly at the figure, but speaks quietly to Katya. "We're not alone."

Katya glances up at Talon and swallows the bite of food in her mouth. "Does it look like real trouble?" she asks quietly. "Or just like an opportunist who sees two women without a so-called male protector in sight? That type tends to be blind even to swords as large as yours, when they're carried by women."

Talon grins and laughs, "Even when carried by a woman as large a me? That is different than at home. Then again, back home, anyone looking would know what this," she taps her wyvern tattoo, "means." She shakes her head and quiets, "I hope our new friend is such a one as you suspect, that would be better than who I think it is."

Katya sighs. "Wonderful. I really didn't think that one whole day and night without problems was too much to ask. Ah, well... we play the cards we're dealt and hope for the best, I guess."

Talon nods with a rueful smirk, but keeps her voice low, "It would seem we fell in with the wrong sort, if we wish for a peaceful day. We made a stout enemy on the journey here, but, it may yet prove useful. Keep your new daggers handy."

Katya nods, then takes a drink. "Well, since nothing else is going on for the moment, maybe you could tell me about that marking?" She gestures to the wyvern tattoo. "I didn't think it was anything but decorative, until you mentioned it a moment ago."

Talon takes a swig of her own drink and leans back, finished with her meal. "It's the mark of the Wyvern Guard, the elite of the fighting force in my home kingdom, Kranis. By the end of the war, I was the only woman in the Wyvern Guard. Now, by decree of the king, there are no women in any of the fighting forces." She scowls and shakes her head, then takes another swig of her drink. "I've other tattoos, all with reasons, if you care to hear them."

Katya smiles. "Only if you'd like to share. One thing I learned in my time on the road is that you don't pry when it comes to your traveling companions. Asking is okay, but take no for an answer unless you like waking up alone several miles from where you went to sleep."

Talon chuckles and nods at the comment, "True enough. I'd not have mentioned them if I minded, though."
She leans back enough to lift her tunic and expose her naval, revealing a tattoo of a snake around her belly button, eating its own tail. "There were three of us who survived the battle of Sarma. We were given this, as a reminder of the sacrafices paid in that battle. Not that any of us could forget."
She drops her tunic back into place and takes a swig of her drink. "On my back, there's a symbol of the rank I obtained in the army." She smirks, "Showing that would require giving our watching friend and everyone else here more of a show than I care to give at the moment."

Katya chuckles as well. "In that case, I'll not ask to see it at the moment."

She toys with the remnants of her meal for a moment, then says quietly, "I wish I could figure out what in the Nine happened back there. With Talia turning up and Jehan acting so... so short with everyone like that, I mean." She shakes her head slightly. "I knew he'd been married before. But who would have expected the long-missing wife to turn up like that?"
