MS Onenote - Campaign Tracker?

Greyhawk_DM

First Post
I recently got MS Onenote and have begun tracking my campaign with it.
Has anyone else used this program before for gaming? If so, what are the long term pro's and con's. So far it has turned out to be a help.

I recently bought a Fujitsu convertible tablet with OneNote pre-installed. We're about to start a D20 Future campaign and I've been compiling my notes in OneNote. I can draw diagrams and pictures alongside handwritten notes. It does a really good job of handwriting recognition so I can run a search through all my notes.

I'm still trying to figure out how to use it best, but so far it seems like it has a lot of potential.

One of the biggest "anal :)" things I do is color code my pages in OneNotes, yellow equals player information, purple equals DM stuff, Light Blue equals campaign.

I also have one Tab I call index, which is a listing of Links, just go to it and click to pull up web pages, another OneNote document or an application.

The biggest issue I have had but feel there is a fix on the way is no table insert. :)

Nice. Color coding the pages is an excellent idea. I'll steal that one. ;)
Sharing OneNotes - I have not done this but if you provide your players access, remember you can password protect 'sections' so you can keep them out of some areas.

I'm still a little confused as to what OneNote does that's worth the money that I can't do in Notepad. I'm not being snarky, I"m just trying to understand what OneNote's target actually is. It looks to basically be a super clipbook...is there more to its functionality.

Yes. It also is an orginizer, web page publisher, super clip board, drawing pad, word processor, tape recorder and presentation.

seach alone will provide you the term on every page and with in the .one document.

you can drag and drop pictures into the document, edit/crop it.

Download the demo.

Don't get me wrong, other orginizers do a lot of what you find in this product but not all of them.

Oh, we have a copy in the office that isn't being used. It sounds like it might be useful. A searching function on a bunch of different media certainly has some appeal to it. I'll have to try it out.
