Luke Skywalker (to Darth Vader) in The Empire Strikes Back:

"Wait, Darth Vader. You kick the crap out of me and cut off my frikkin' hand, THEN you tell me you're my Dad and ask me to join you? Next time, couldn't you.. I dunno... just send me a muffin basket or something? Trust me, it'd have made your offer a lot more attractive."

Piratecat calls this the Muffin Basket conundrum. What other examples of this concept are there in the movies.

Actually, KidCthulhu calls it that. I just think it's a really funny image.

It really is particularly rife in the Star Wars movies. The Emperor to young Anakin... "Prove you love me. Kill a bunch of little kids." At least we know where ole' Darth got it from.
