Muffin's Conundrum :)

Hi :) I wish to ask you a question that will define the fate of Muffin, the tiefling Necromancer :) The first D&D character I ever came up with :)

In my friends' campaign :) Muffin and Co. went on a quest to stop "The Hags" :) We just made it to the "The Big Tree", snuck past the "Hag's Followers" by going through with the "Jump of Fate" (basically, jumping off of a Giant Waterfall with Rocks and bloody water at the bottom (Muffin Cheated by using Spider Climb and plopped down from a safer height/position) and then the party got separated :)

At this point, Muffin and her Not-Pirate companion got teleported to a temple of VECNA and proceeded through with caution (detect magic for the win) :) In this place, we found a Golden Skull which can grant 3 wishes (but can potentially 'ruin things' for you) and a Book :) Now then, the Pirate took the Skull and Muffin handled this very evil book :)

After leaving this very evil place, we found the Hags and we were too late :) They were performing their ritual :) and one of our allies was corrupted (damn you Hag Magic) and there's also a black and purple dragon :) and lots of undead :) We escaped on a Magical Horse :)

Anyway, seeing as things were looking VERY BAD, I set Muffin into motion with the Book in the hopes that she could obtain a greater power to defeat The Hags :) It turns out this book was an Artifact :)

I'm not going to tell you what this book is called :) . . . but it almost killed Muffin, almost turned her Evil, it wants her to commit specific bad acts at least once every 10 days and kills villagers and makes Muffin smell of the very essence of evil BUT . . . it gives her boosted stats, gives her immunities to poison and charm, allows her to use "Dark Speech", grants her access to a lot of evil information, really messed up magic (including the production of Liches and Death Knights) and the many true names names of Demons :)

Now then :) There are a few things more you need to know :)

Having possession of this book:

Changes your appearance in a horrible way and marks you :)

Triggers a God to the point that he sends something to kill you :)

Causes things to die within 10ft of you and obviously forces you to commit terrible acts so long as you try to keep it :)

But

Muffin is:
based off of Lich magic. She isn't a Lich but like Mummy's, she is obliged to act a certain way :)

not the owner of the body she uses. As it was not her decision or act that resulted in her taking the body of a Tiefling, she is reluctant to take the body for granted especially as she is not aware as to whether her host is aware or not :)

generally a good person to point that she has a conscience and will always choose to help people if she can but for the most part hasn't been able to gain the alignment of good as most of her actions are dictated by her condition :)

also one of the few individuals her set the Hags plans in motion by unintentionally revealing the location of civilisation to the hags in the first place :)

BUT
by obtaining this book, it has began to break down her being and it is clear to Muffin as to how she was a person because of the things she has lost, the threat she has become and in a way, has gained some kind of freedom to make her own decision because of how morally gray her situation is :)

So :) Finally, the question :) Should Muffin:
seek redemption?
selfishly give up on the book which will result in it popping up elsewhere for someone else to find and possibly do more evil?
live so that she can continue to do as she did before as a person without free will?

Any other suggestions/questions are welcome and I don't consider this meta-gaming as Muffin's being is magic and is a complicated person in a complicated situation (plus I consider her to be smarter than me) :)

Burned at the Stake!

...just free-associating... ...ironic, though, it's a traditional means of executing witches, which map to Warlocks, which are stereotypically tielfings - who resist fire. Hmph, I smell a diabolic conspiracy...

seek redemption?
Yes!
Nothing like a redemptive story arc. :)

She's Abyysal so she would burn :)

Seek redemption, seek some way to destroy the book (like going questing for a Sphere of Anihalation to throw it in), & seek a means to be separated from her host body.

Well :) I can tell you a bit more I guess :) Should Muffin die or go too far from the book, her soul will be sent Vecna for all of eternity to suffer :) Probably not a fair way to seek redemption over a Naive Accident :) Also, the book will always return back to the world should it be destroyed :)

Redemption Seems to be the Final Option :) Redemption is what she will go with :) For the future of all sentient life and the future generations :) Muffin will do her all in the name of Redemption :)

What kind of text editor are you using to write your posts, LegionError121 ?

For some reason all punctuation marks look like smilies. It's rather annoying.

I just like Smiles :) As for text editing :) I just type stuff up on this site and then put it through the "British Spellcheck" website since Firefox doesn't autocorrect things/notify you of mistakes :)
