Multiclass Bloodmage

Hey I was thinking about making my swordmage a multiclass wizard for the blood Mage paragon path. But in the section about dealing wounds to yourself in return for doing more damage, it says you can only use for wizard encounter and daily powers, along with bloodmage powers. Does this mean that this feature of the paragon path is effectively useless to multiclassers that keep their base class powers? (Except of course for the blood mage powers.)

By RAW yes. But remember, if this is a home game, ask your GM if he's willing to houserule it.

For Defenders, Swordmages aren't great on HP. And they don't do anywhere near as much multitarget as wizards, so I can't see Blood Mage being overly broken with your swordmage if you want it for thematic reasons.

If you've got some broken combo planned, then the fact it's not RAW should deter you, but if you've got a theme going, just ask nicely :-)

I run a home game with a swordmage who MCed wizard for the Bloodmage paragon path. I can attest that it's not optimal, unless cheesed. The swordmage (a shielding swordmage) is constantly taking damage, and it helps him as often as it hurts him.

I'd also recommend talking with the DM; it's not going to be any more overpowered any any other paragon path.
