For some reason, I am having a difficult time trying to figure out how many spell slots/cantrips my character should have. It's just not clicking with me. I started off with a Paladin as my base class, and went up to Paladin 4 Sorcerer 2 (we are starting the campaign at level 6). How many spell slots/cantrips should I get at this level? Thanks!

Paladin 4 would be like a 2nd level caster (since a paladin is a 1/2 caster). Sorcerer 2 would a 2nd level caster. That's a level 4 multiclassed caster. You would look at the multiclass chart in the PHB to see how many slots of each level you get. I believe it's 4 level 1 slots and 3 level 2 slots but I'd have to check.

To determine spells known you look at the sorcerer class and paladin class separately and treat yourself just as a level 4 paladin for the paladin stuff and then as a level 2 sorcerer for the sorcerer stuff. You get to know/prepare all those spells. Usually it's quite a few when you multiclass.
