Multiclass Monk, and Flurry Progression question

Sylrae

First Post
it says you use your monk level instead of your monk bab for flurry attacks.

I took that to mean

Monk5/ftr5 has his first flurry attack with a +10.

My friend took it to mean you ignore all BAB from other classes, and just use the monk's +5.

Official Reading? Maybe this has been cleared up somewhere?

I found the answer on Paizo's site. You still add BAB from other classes. It's clarified in the conversion document.

The Core book is just really vague. =/

@Sylrae:

Could you post a link to the discussion on the Paizo boards? HeroLab looks like it only uses the Monk's level and adds nothing else for the Flurry and I'd like to be able to point the programmers to the discussion when I post it in their 'Bugs' forum.

There was no official response in the thread, but here is the text from the Conversion Guide (Which is a free download from Paizo)

A monk’s base attack bonus when performing a flurry of
blows is now equal to his level. His attacks are made as if
using Two-Weapon Fighting (and its improvements at later
levels). Table 3–10 summarizes these bonuses. Change your
flurry of blows base bonuses to match these values (plus
any increases to your base attack bonus from other classes,
which might give you additional attacks with your primary
strike). Note that other increases to your base attack bonus
do not increase the number of attacks you can make with
your off hand, as the bonus feats to gain these attacks are
not gained until you reach the required level of monk.

Hmm.

I'm hoping that either Jason Bulmahn or James Jacobs can comment on here about this, as the GM in the campaign where I play a multiclass monk reads the Pathfinder Core as Contradicting the Conversion Guide, and if looking for 'the word of god' on the matter.

If I could get a nod from either of them saying either the conversion guide is right or not right on the matter (I don't read them as conflicting, but another GM Does), it would kill a great deal of argument around our game table.

Here's Hoping. :)

All character abilities and class features are self referential only. That is, they do not consider what else you might have going on, just for easy of language and description. The rules for multiclassing apply normally, as they are the rules that bridge things together.

So....

In this case, a Monk 5/Fighter 5 would flurry with a BAB of +10.

Hope that solves this one up. I will look into clarifying the language on this issue.
