Multiclassing Swordmage

I'm playing a Defending Genasi Swordmage, just levelling up to lvl 4.

Before stat increases my stats are:
12 STR, 16 CON, 10 DEX, 18 INT, 14 WIS, 8 CHA

I'll put 1 point in INT, but I want to take a multiclass feat (and might retrain toughness out for the acolyte power (or whatver it's called), to get a different encounter power)

My question is any thoughts onto a good synergystic MC to take? I can put a point into STR to qualify for most of the feats.

We have 3 strikers (1 bow ranger, 1 TW ranger, 1 warlock)
1 leader (cleric)
1 other Defender (Fighter)

I'd like to take a wizard power to cover off some of the controller role, but that MC doesn't really offer much benefits as I don't gain any skill training, and from what I understand I can't use my longsword as an implement for their powers.

If you're not willing to lose your skill training, then you'll have to wait for another book. Your stats only make Wizard, Warlock and Artificer attractive multiclass options. You don't qualify for the current Warlock multiclass feat, though, and there isn't an Artificer multiclass feat yet. Arcane Power will probably give you some other options for multiclassing into Wizard or Warlock, and the Eberron Player's Guide will probably give you a way to multiclass into Artificer.

Implements will always be a problem for you, though. Unless you're willing to stick with powers that don't need an attack roll, you might want to consider staying a single-classed Swordmage.

Perhaps Berserker's Fury? Forget power swapping, you don't have the strength.

Encounter-long +2 to all damage rolls is nice on a swordmage ... assuming you have sword burst or other multi-targeting powers.

I would just go with wizard-- maybe asking your dm if you can get another skill rather than the duplicate arcana. You have the intelligence, the party could use some nice AoE goodness, and you'll only get a couple points behind on the magic stuff before you can take wizard of the spiral tower and use your longsword as an implement for wizard powers.

You can't .. WotST can only use a longsword as an implement they specialize in. MC wizards aren't specialized in anything.
