So you've missed what's going on in this adventure. The kids from the cartoons made it back home, and have been returned to the Realm, for reasons unknown, as young adults. The new character had the same storyline, just in a different world. She went there as a kid, became a cleric, returned to Earth, grew into a young adult, and has now returned, just this time to the Realm.
Thank you. I missed that indeed.

I mean if Faerunian god of Oozes can substitute for worship of Tharizdun, Bahamut can substitute for Jesus. Wait until she has a crisis of faith and suddenly runs into this loony wizard, who gives good prep talks but also likes to cast fireball.

Firstly Christianity isnt the only religion that has Angels and having read Nikos info her mace lets her summon Celestials - so really she could be a Jew or a Zoroastrian or a Hindu or even a modern New Aged beleiver in spirit guides and healing through faith.

From the adventure's introduction: "Accompanying the adventure are character sheets for six of the animated series’ protagonists: Bobby, Diana, Eric, Hank, Presto, and Sheila, all presented in young adulthood. The seventh character sheet presents Niko, a Cleric from a different set of adventurers who recently tumbled into the D&D multiverse." [my emphasis]

Not only that, but she's also the token generic Asian girl.

Although she isn't given a name, it seems like Niko's first appearance was in the 2022 Dragons of Stormwreck Isle miniatures set.

How is she token and generic? I did not read any of this yet, but is she described in such a way?

I know, but the joke about Bahamut/Paladine being Jesus analogue in Dragonlance I was going for doesn't work any of those three religions.

No, none of them have any description at all. I was just referring to the fact that the D&D cartoon characters are a bunch of white kids with their token African American, to which WotC has now added the token generic ethnic girl (is she Native American? Hispanic? Indian? Malaysian?).

I mean, don't get me wrong, it's great that they're trying to be more inclusive here. Maybe it's because there's no context for any of these characters that it feels tokenistic to me? I'd much rather they strive for authentic inclusivity rather than tokenism.

It reminds me of how Hasbro recently "retired" Mrs White from Clue and replaced her with Dr Orchid, a female Asian scientist ... cos, you know, that's neither on-the-nose nor stereotypical at all.

I was just referring to the fact that you've got your team of white kids plus the token African American, and to that mix, they've added another token ethnic person who is generic enough that she could be Native American, Indian, Malaysian, Chinese, whatever.

I can help but feel this plays into their longterm plans for the cartoon characters, and the rest of Niko's mysterious group (I'm guessing theybwill rpujd out the 12 basic Classes...).
