Heh. I only use the average hit points for monsters if the players were using average hit points for their characters.

It's surprising how many Enworld posters don't appear to use average or unbiased-roll HP, judging by the recent thread/poll. Lots of DMs allow rerolls of low numbers apparently. I agree that if you're arbitrarily boosting PCs it isn't unfair to arbitrarily boost monsters, but it seems like a lot of bother for little return. Why not just not boost anyone?

The players enjoy having more hit points so I indulge them. Running old school systems is another matter. Take what you roll for PCs & monsters.
