Munchkin bashing [rant]

Nobody's saying munchkins can't enjoy D&D however they want.

We're saying if that's how you want to play, then stick with your own kind and don't spout the !33+ness of your character in public forums where decent folks are trying to pontificate.

You see snoweel, this is my problem. You say that munchkins shouldn't show off their characters in forums where "decent" people are. This implies that munchkins are not "decent". Who are you to say that they aren't?

I gargle dice and chew pencils. I use my miniatures like puppets on a string and I shoot muchkins with wooden rubber band guns! My poor grandma :o

Part of the problem is that munchkins are just SO damn BORING! In junior high there was a guy who had Thor as his grandfather, had a shield that could protect him from everything except dog urine, had a separate shield to protect himself against THAT, and so on and so forth.

I suppose that's amusing when you're twelve. The point is that by the time you're twenty-five, thirty, whatever, we've heard it all before. And it's just really tedious. Yes, you have all 18s, or 20s, or 25s, and did 40247242482hp of damage because of this hole you found in the rules and your DM is a moron. Nifty-swifty for you.

*yawn*

Not that I'm huge on the other side of the spectrum -- hey, this isn't a LARP, we're not playing White Wolf, so keep those acting genes in check :) -- but lord, do munchkins tire me.

He's back!

Time to resurrect the "Things that Suck" series, don't you think?

...you did notice that Snoweel was highly ironic with his post, right? :)

My bad  Still, that is an example of what I mean. Other people say this sort of stuff. And I can't for the life of me understand why.

First of all, I got to say I only read the first few posts of this thread, so disregard what I'm going to say if it's already been said.

I think we have to make a difference here between a roll-player and a munchkin. Personnally, I do not have anything against roll-players, but I try to avoid munchkins at all cost. I sometimes like to do dungeon-delving adventures, as I sometimes like to play heavy-role-playing game sessions. What I do not like is the player who comes with his character who's Ftr2 (for the feats)/Rog2 (for Evasion)/Sor1 (for the Toad familiar and Shield)/Mnk1 (for the Wis bonus to AC)/etc...
