Yeah, I'm with you on wanting PDF. I end up doing adventure prep during lunch at work, and having the rules in PDF (or HTML, or whatever) is really handy. Slap 'em on a CD or a flash drive, and wherever I am, I have what I need.

While there are some exceptions, I think that most companies will opt for one or the other (.pdf or print). If I had invested the thousands (even merely ones of thousands ;) ) necessary for a print run, I would not even take the risk that a .pdf would find it's way to the filesharing world. Especially after discovering a playtest copy of 1st edition actually posted on a website for just anyone to have. This actually happened with 1st edition MnM.

Then again, it's easy for me to be chill about it, as I was at GenCon this year.

So does that mean that Aura powers don't also attack when the character makes a melee attack? For example, if a character with Str 30 and Strike Aura 10 punches a villain, does the villain have to save against both the punch damage and the aura damage separately?

The first thing to remember is that Strike (Aura) is not Energy Field. It is the Strike power with an extra. The answer isn't in how the Aura extra applies, but in how Strike applies.

Snip... [two paragraphs of explaination that boiled down to me essentially posting the Strike power and it's extras] :o

I'm not sure a "house rule" is called for, just a clarification under the Aura extra that Aura effects which cause melee damage are not applied seperately, and then maybe refer to the Strike power for particulars on application. That, and another clarification under Strike that any touch-ranged bonus to damage granted by a power is "Strike" and subject to the same rules listed under that power's description.

I really wish the M&M boards were back. I was enjoying the detailed conversations about the new previews, plus the general feeling of community excitement. I wonder why Green Ronin doesn't create a temporary M&M2e board on their regular forums, to make do until the M&M-dedicated forums are back online?

Green Ronin releases almost all of its books on pdf prior to the print release. M&M2e is the sole exception in recent memory. I would guess that GR is wary about releasing it on pdf because it's the flagship of their most profitable line, with its supplements likely exist primarily to drive sales of the corebook, which is expected to be a constant high seller with a very long shelf life.

Actually, although I'm not that familiar with Green Ronin's other releases, I can tell you that a .pdf release for a MnM product has been a recent change. I believe Gimmick's Guide to Gadgets was first. Before that, print only. Currently on RPGNow.com, Green Ronin has only 3 MnM .pdf's for sale: the aforementioned GGG, Lockdown, and Lockdown: Gen-Pop.

I totally agree with you about the supplements existing to drive up sales of the core book. That's the essential OGL business model, and why the market is starting to see so many "alternate Player's Handbooks." For the effort of one extra book, all the supplements you write can drive up your sales, not just WotC's.

PS I wish the Atomic Think Tank were back, too. I didn't think it would be down this long.

I'm not certain of this, but there doesn't appear to be a PL cap on Powers - only on Save DC's and Saving Throw bonuses. So there's nothing to prevent you from buying non-offensive, non-defensive powers like Super Speed or Growth up as high as you can afford.

Is this correct?

Basically from my understanding - note, you said Save DC's and Saving Throw bonuses, but those are only part of it. Limits are on damage able to be dealt, saves, and attack and defense bonuses.
