Hi
I deleted a couple of pieces that were removed from my sight and added several new pieces including character sketches and some samples of my illustration work from an upcoming rpg.

Note: If the images do not show in the thread, it means my bandwith for the day has been exceeded. You can still see images by clicking on the link to my gaming related art.

Here is another picture. I just started painting in photoshop about 3 or 4 months ago, but I have been pretty happy with the results.

Greg, you asked me to drop you a note on your art.

I think you've got great chops.

I do have some comments.

1) I see that you are really working on your anatomy. But in the case of the last offering, the right eye (to our left) of the portrait is sliding compared to the other one. There is a tendency for your anatomy to "slide" around a bit. The way to nail this down, iMO, is not only practice, but utilization of building a skeletal framework underneath the drawing. Almost every one of my drawings starts with a wire drawing for spine, arms, legs. The head, I roughly sculpt, in perspective, the eye sockets, nose , jaw. I'm a big subscriber to the Burne Hogarth school of anatomy in perspective... while his anatomy is kinda dated... his method is still spot on. Besides, that practice, practice, practice.

2) Perspective work is needed. I love the perspective in the figures arms of the boy casting a spell in front of the computer. Put then it is spoiled because you try to wing in the perspective (same with the female warrior in front of the wall...It is sliding to the left, not staying in the planes that it should. The straight- across- horizontal is so rare in our experience, it always looks forced)... If you had spent the time on the computer, the desk and put into perspective, that would be an awesome piece. But right now it is flawed.

But I see you really working on your light sources and such. YOu are doing a lot right. All I can say is keep posting stuff. I also recommend checking out this forum if you haven't already. It is my main source of critiques, fellow artist support and tons of good natured joshing. In fact, any artists who are lurking... rpgnet's Freelance and Freelancers section is an amazing forum of really great artists, amateurs all being very supportive of each other.

Storn,
Thanks. The critique was very useful. It definitely points out things that I need to remain concious of in the beginning stages.
