my best m. item: ATM Ring

This is the best magic item I ever came up with. It rivals my endless ball of string... It is the ATM Ring.

This is a simple item. It's a gold ring with a number on the band. That number represents how much money is in your extra-dimensional pocket commonly referred to as "your account".

It has two command words: Deposit and Withdraw.

To remove money from your account, you say aloud, "Withdraw," then you specify the amount and the type. And in your hand appears that much money. Yes, this leads to problems with large withdrawls.

To add money, put the money in your hand, and say, "Deposit". There is no need to specify the amount as the ring can process that for you. If depositing large amounts, just scoop it all into your arms and say deposit. The ring knows what to do.

Now, this could get out of hand with creative or evil PCs. If the PCs try to abuse this wonderful service have the ring say, "Sorry, but I'm closed to observe a federal holiday. Please try back in the future." As we all know, banks are always closed when you need them the most.

Really, I came up with this as I tried to come up with just how my char. was going to carry around more then a 100 gold or so. Most DMs are nice and ignore the space/weight thing, but I didn't like the idea of my wizard pushing around a wheelbarrow full of cash.

hmmmmmm...

Im my world, there are:

bag of holding,
Hewards hefty haversack

both of which do what you are saying...

and if you have problems with carryoing money around, carry larger denominations, or jewels...

ball of string is more useful. At least you can tie a guy up with it...

It's a slightly anachronistic concept, but given the total anachronism of most D&D campaigns, it's not that bad. :)

The name and command words have got to go, tho. Sorry, anachronistic concepts are one thing, blatant word theft is another. :p
