My cat has died and it hurts very much

I'm sorry he died. I can't imagine how I'll feel when my little dogs die. The advice I usually hear given is 'get another pet fairly soon' but I'm uncertain about saying that.

I'm sorry to hear that, but for what its worth, I know how you must be feeling. I had four cats, who were among my best friends, for the better part of 10 years. I lost three of them very suddenly due to a still unknown feline virus. Hurt like hell. My best advice is to take some time to grieve before getting another.

Yup it hurts like hell. I lost one of my kitties from probably the same "unknown feline virus" the same day I lost my grandmother.... talk about a double-whammy....... Which is kinda weird... he got sick the same day she had her stroke and died the same day, but a few hours earlier. And it was the cat she wasn't too close to as he was too big and heavy to sit on her lap.....

i feel for you (story time!)

when i was born my mom bought a cat from a friend of hers, and named her Homesick. Homesick was 2 weeks older than me. When my mom remarried we had to give her to my grandma, because the cat didn't get along well with my step-fathers dogs :P I just learned the other day that my grandma has to put down Homesick because her kidneys are failing :(

Homesick is a siamese cat, who lived to be over 20 years old...I'm gonna miss her =\

Same here Darkness. When I lost my Siamese, Annie, it hit me harder than any other loss, including Grandma's and Grandpa's, favorite uncles, etc... It helped that I had one of her daughters, but then i lost her a couple of years later in a very tragic and ugly way.

I tried another cat soon after. He got eaten by a dog when he snuck outside. I adamantly refuse to get another one.

A few months ago my wife got a cat for herself. A very nice ossicat (sp?). I refused to bond with it. About five weeks ago the cat dissappeared out of our house. The only thing I can figure is that he went out an open window. We are pretty sure the Racoons ate him, and none of the neighbors around here admitted to seeing or having him.

No more cats. At least my memories are safe.
