Who knows, by the time those of us in our 30s start to retire in a few decades, there might be theme retirement villages. Who wants to join me in Geeksville? ;)

Dude - count me in! :)

....this morning, I get an email that tells me he has joined a regular Saturday D&D (3rd edition) game. He wrote to ask me about playing and developing his 3rd level cleric....
At risk of getting all up in your business (heh), your next goal is to get him into *your* D&D group.

Good stuff. My dad got me into gaming, when I was five. We had just moved to Toronto, and he had to leave his group in Victoria behind. So he roped me into playing with him... for about six months, until he found a new group. But it was enough to get me hooked.

Hooray for cool dads.

A few months ago he and my mom seperated and he ended up in a little efficiency apartment. he's retired and isn't in the greatest health, so I worried about him becoming a shut in.
He's not the guy that's got the neck beard, stained t-shirt that's too small on him, & smelling like Al Bundy's shoes is he?

It's been awhile since he's been into the D&D scene...you should check on that and let him know that's looked down upon these days :p

I'm just sayin....I remember my dad when he got divorced...it wasn't pretty :p

We were discussing this when I was still in college, in the late 1980s.

Of course, we assumed we would be playing AD&D forever . . .

The "D&D Retirement Home" was mentioned years ago in the letters page of Dragon. I hope I can still play D&D with my peers when I reach the Venerable age category.

Heck, with our general numbers, it might be a real possibility!

Curious... that raises the issue of edition-tiering, i.e. everybody playing the latest edition that all players can remember learning... :)
