My Deluxe Character Sheet - please rate and critique!

I rate this character sheet...

Another thought to put onto future revisions:

I tend to create a section in an unused area of whatever sheet I use to annotate level by level the advancement and options that I took... A level up log of sorts. I keep track of by character level what class I took, what feats were chosen, hp rolled, where skill points went, what spells were chosen... etc. It would be similar to your boxes that list hp/level or skill points/level but with more room for multiple options.

An expanded area like this might do better on a separate (and optional) sheet, as some might not bother with keeping this kind of log. If placed on a separate sheet, other worthy additions might be areas for session logs with xp granted. Character bio/history or other notes. Sections for Lands, Titles, Holdings. Special items like magical items that have histories, descriptions, extensive sets of powers (I don't know how many times I have created a cool item with history & description, only to have the player just jot down +2 Longsword (Beholder Bane)).

I am sure the others participating in this thread might have more ideas.

After a long absence... I'm back!

Again, great work! I actually kind of liked the weapons section better the other way, but the inventory list is better in the newer one. Either way, these are (as I said before) some of the best character sheets I've ever seen. :)

Looks like I gotta get to work 'customizing' this one, too (pretty easy, actually...a little cut & paste on the skill list...substitute Greyhawk languages for Realms ones...done). :)

Thanks again for putting these sheets on the boards.

Regards,
Darrell King
You know, I liked the weapon slots better the other way, but I couldn't format it properly sideways to my liking, thus Ammo and Grapple got switched up. I am also loving the inventory and indeed it was one of the first things my players noted when I broke out the new sheets.

No problem for putting these out here and happy to hear that you are having an easy time changing to your tastes. Hope these bring your games some good times :)

Smootrk, thansk for the feedback. If I were to make a "level-up log" for this Character sheet, I would think it would have to have it's own page. Whilst I quail in fear at this sheet going from "Deluxe" to "tedious" (no spite there, just joshin' ye  ) if you have a blank .DOC version I could work with, I could see about making an add-on to this sheet. that PDF inventory sheet from further up the page could make a nice companion for that.

Thansk for all the feedback guys and gals :D

anything specific you'd like to share? Just curious ;)

Sure, I can explain. I made 'em up :) Allow me to explain:

Speed: You speed is composed of your Strength and Dexterity scores added together. Racial Modiiers then apply. Instead of a set amount (like -10' spd) there is instead a percent difference, largely dependant on race. For the core races, Gnomes, Halflings and Dwarves have -25% speed, which is taken out of their Str+Dex total and is rounded up or down depending on which is closer (an exception to the "always lower" rule) to the closest 5' increment. After rounding down, any feats/abilitites are taken off, and then any armour mods (and any misc after that, if applicable).

EX: You are a dwarven warrior, 15 Str and 13 Dex. 15+13=28. 25% of 28 is 7, so speed is 21 - rounded down to 20. Normally the fullplate would incur a speed penalty, but since he's a dwarf there is none.

Hope that helps :)

see, why is this honestly such a big ol' deal for people. I linked microsoft word veiwer in the first post to top it off. :\
But to use that you have to install Microsoft software onto their computers, and more significantly, enter into a contract with Microsoft. Some people don't want to do that, just to give you feedback on your character sheet, and why should they?

I didn't mark you down for being .DOC rather than PDF, although I thought about it, but there were a couple of things that I did mark you down for, or that just seemed strange to me:

What does Skill Points (Min/Max) mean?

Why do you need 3 lines for one lot of AC? You could use those three lines for three different states of armour (say, unarmoured, full armour, sailing armour, or whatever).

You could have the label Classes & Levels, rather than Class (Level). Its a small thing, but it'd be more accurate when dealing with multiclass characters.

Also, I know every other character sheet ever created also does this, but to my mind the totals are at the wrong end. I read left-to-right, so X + Y + Z = T is more natural for me that T = X + Y + Z. I'm surprised this doesn't bother anyone else, but apparently it doesn't.

It doesn't bother me, because the totals are what's important and thus they should be easy to find. I see it as akin to the way AC is set up in the Monster Manual: "AC: 23 (natural +10, Size -1, Dex +4), touch 13, flatfooted 19" In 90% of cases, you're only interested in the main AC, and in 90% of the remaining cases the touch/flatfooted values cover it. The rest is just "accounting."

Okay, shoot!

maximum and minimum ranks. ex level 1 you can have a max in... wait a sec - where DOES min come from? I have no idea what that means. That's really, really odd :p lol, ok, I guess I'll go change that now :D

You know, that isn't a bad idea at all - infact maybe one of the better ones here other than ammo and what not. Of course, I'd now need a line for the touch and FF of all those conditions (not a full summary as presented, just a single box) but that definitly has potential in a newer version of the sheet. Thanks for the idea :D

Are you referring to the top part of page 1? If so, I do it that way for that a 4th level Barb / 7th level Fighter / 10th level Frenzied Berserker would put his Class levels as Barbarian (4), Fighter (7), Frenzied Berserker (10). Just the way I do it - does that explain it or is there still something I am not understadning here?

I read left-to-right as well, which is why I'd want "T = X + Y + Z" - The buisness end is where I'd want it to be. Maybe it's just you :p?

Not my taste since I prefer 2 pagers, but it looks well done.
Cool, thanks for the feedback, and happy gaming :)
