My first character, could use some input.

If you want to go for sneak attack I would take the stats I suggested and punt point in charisma (for the bluff) or cha and con.

Also the improved initiative feat is then very cool (for a total of +7 initiative) what gives you a big chance to be first.

So you got your sneak attack, then you my go first before your target is no longer flat-footed (you stop being flat footed at the start of your turn) for a 2e sneak attack. Then try to bluff him so you get a few more sneak attacks in. If it still stand then, then the mob is to big for you :)

Also look at the Studded Leather armor (masterwork). Its prity cheap and you prob can pay for it, it gives you an AC bonus of 3 and no real panalties. With your dex of 17, it will give you an AC of 16, whats desent for a rogue :) At level 4 it will be 18 if you don't find a better armor before then. :)

In case you play a halfling you can't finesse in short sword, but take dagger instead at level 3. The few points of dammage won't hurt you much. You do dammage for the sneak attacks :)

Don't forget if you are first and you defeat your oponents you did got 1 attack less on you then the others. Also it gives you the chance to take out mages before they can cast (delay action till they cast) and a lot of more littel advantages.

Wow, lots of replies. I thank you all.

Nail: I'll be starting as 2nd level. They just started a new campaign and I'm one adventure behind.

Garmorn: The ranger idea seems nice, but I don't see any reason to take any more levels as a ranger, and just having 1 level in ranger for those feats seem a bit cheesy to me.

I agree if you don't see a desire to go for more then one level. Taking just one level of any class for the starting benfits seems cheesy to me.

I like rangers/rogue combinations because of the improved BAB and Hp's that they get and the skill over lap enough that most of the more important skills don't suffer from multiclassing. This is my wife's favorite class combo. She is quite happy with the bennies of Ranger 1/ Rogue 2 advancement.

I'll second that. If yer focus is scouting (and th' subsequent fighting), then a ranger/rogue is hard to beat. Besides, it sets you up fer some neat Prestige Classes later. (And I'm not taling about a halfling outrider!)

If that's yer focus, get rid of Cha, and even out yer Dex, Wis, and Str. You'll need 'em.
