My first FFG purchase (A review of sorts)

Awww, man... You mean I missed a sale of $5 hardbacks from the Legends and Lairs line? That sucks!!!

Did news of this sale ever appear on the ENWorld news page? If so, how did I miss it? (If not, why not?)

I'm fairly certain this was on the front page.

So you know, Bastion and Inner Circle are both having sales. There's still a chance to grab some stuff.

I got mine today (Elemental Lore, Cityworks, Monster Handbook and Darkness and Dread) and have to say that D&D is chocked full of horror goodness. In fact it has some ideas for a low powered game, horror or not. I never liked the idea of a puny human killing an adult dragon and they came up with 24 low powered classes that could never do that. Most of them are jobs as classes. I am not sure if that is better than the d20 CoC generic classes though. Speaking of CoC, there is rules for madness and fear and a whole chapter on research and tomes of evil.

I skimmed MH and EL (and got a headache from reading too fast) and was dissapointed with EL (I wanted more water and air elementals); MH is everything that the reviews say it is and now sits next to the Book of Templates (DE) and Advanced Bestiary.

D&D also gave me an idea for magic with in a horror game: humans have a power cap at 5th level arcane spells. If the players want their PCs to cast higher ones, the characters must become inhuman.

I edited my last post (the above this one) for coherency and added some stuff.

I finally skimmed City Works and have only one complaint- the section on fantasy cities was too short and had only 3 examples (underground, treetop and cliffside). No flying/floating, underwater, marshland, transdimentional, planar, multi-raced (architecture) or temporary (like one that exists in moonlight only) examples.

So will we see a flood of product reviews on these puppies anytime soon? It'd be interesting to see if the sale spurs a little more than just a post word of mouth. I'd be interested to see if it effects the top twenty products but people have to review 'em.

I ordered Dungeon Craft, City Works, Wildscape and Giant Lore.
I'm about halfway through Dungeon Craft and like most of what I see. As others have said, the art is great in these books.
Thanks, FFG.

Brase is one of my favorite artists, and Hian and Elsing (sp?) rock my world as well.

I got them yesterday, at last!

Dang, they were out of stock for Path of Shadows. I got all others that I had ordered: Paths of Faith, Magic, and the Sword; Portals & Planes, Wildscape, Dungeoncraft, Cityworks, Monster's Handbook, both Traps & Treacheries, and Spells & Spellcraft.

I think it gives me a well-rounded toolbox: Cityworks, Dungeoncraft+T&Ts, Wildscape, and P&P for setting-design; the three (dang!) Paths and S&S for character design.

I ordered wildscape, monster's handbook, cityworks, and darkness and dread, when the sale just started... and had a stupid surprised look on my face when i got the message from the postal office after 9 days that i have a package! that was damn quick!

Not to dampen your enthusiasm, but I think they are done with the d20 market *shrug*.

I doubt that very seriously as Midnight is one of the more popular non-WotC campaign settings. You can always count on a business to do whatever it takes to make more money. :)
