My first FFG purchase (A review of sorts)

I got my books Friday, but they shorted me one. I ordered two copies of portals and planes, and only got one. Hopefully, they fix that quickly.

Unfortunate? Egads man....

Everyone's got their own opinion but...

Midnight rocks :)

The unfortunate part isn't that Midnight is continuing, but stuff that I enjoy and use (like the Lore and School series of books) are not.

The funny thing is if you know the weights of the books, you can check to see how much is "shipping" and how much is "handling". I wouldn't be surprised if 75% of the cost to Canada is either "handling" or a typo.

The six books I ordered came in yesterday. I cant wait to get home and dig in to these books! I wish I had more spare time, this will take months to go through. I, too, was really impressed with the artwork of these books. Top rate, really.

Well, I got six of the seven books I ordered, within six days of the order. Path of Shadows was out of stock. I got Cityworks, Wildscape, Dungeoncraft, and the other three Path of... books, The Sword, Magic, and Faith. My initial impression is that I will use these books more than the three Complete books from WotC that I own (and paid full price for at my Friendly not-so-local Gaming Store).

To echo others, the artwork is first rate, the layout is easy to follow and uncluttered, and the ideas are well thought-out and presented. If they send the out-of-stock title, I will probably go back for more at whatever price. If they don't, I will boycot on general principles. :p

It's too bad that everyone didn't realize the quality of the books before FFG got out of d20 gaming. Ah well, there's always Midnight 2nd edition to look foward to.

I now (thanks to the sale) have ALL the L&L books. Wow. I'm going to be using quite a bit of stuff from them for a future campaign.

BTW, they took quite a while to arrive, but I did finally get them.

I got in all my books last week with no problems. I just finished reading the Dungeoncraft book and was very impressed with it. And I don't even play D20. At $5 a book, I don't have to feel guilty for buying books where I just ignore the first chapter or two (the ones on new prcs and feats).

Awww, man... You mean I missed a sale of $5 hardbacks from the Legends and Lairs line? That sucks!!!

Did news of this sale ever appear on the ENWorld news page? If so, how did I miss it? (If not, why not?)
