My First Minis!

Hi! I'm really new at painting minis.
These are some of the ones I've done so far. I've had these for a while; I just haven't been able to get my camera to work until just recently. Sorry about the picture quality and all.

Anyway, these come from Reaper's Dungeon Adventurers boxed set. I still have to do the other four yet, but I'll wait until after I get some feedback on these.

For 'first minis' they are not too bad at all - in fact the first one (my favourite of the bunch) is really quite good. I really wish I still had the first couple of miniatures that I ever painted as they were terrible by comparison (no primer, no highlighting or shading, and about half a dozen colours total - yeah they were really bad ).

So yeah, I'd say you are off to a great start.

Also, with regard to taking pictures - I tend to put a white sheet of paper behind the figure, and have a couple of desk lamps shining on them (though I still take about half a dozen photos of each mini - as I still only end up with one or two that are any good).

You've got some good stuff going on there. Definitely better than my first attempts.

Very solid work, especially for your first tries! You definitely have some brush control and have the opportunity to become an outstanding painter!

Suggestion: You have good base colors and some decent shading. Try highlighting your miniatures a bit and neaten up the colors as you go.

Great stuff. If these are your first attempts at mini painting, then you've got a great base on which to build. The only advice I would offer is...

... paint more!

Hey, those look great, I know the trend these days is toward the pre-painted minis, so we are always looking for those able to keep this great and dying art alive. There is lots of great advice out there, I grew up reading "Through the Looking Glass" in Dragon, and "Heavy Metal" in White Dwarf, but it all comes back to firsts, and while I don't still have my first ever miniature I painted, (it was a Werewolf) I do still have my second one, now 20 years later:

This one was done with Testors enamels on bare metal with plastic bristled brushes, I cringe at the thought these days.

Here is a handfull of my more recent ones, what a difference 20 years behind the brush makes:

You are off to a much better start than I was, and now with the wealth of information and tutorials available on the Internet these days, your progress should be much quicker than mine!
