D&D 5E My hat of 5E knows no bounds

One of the curious things this time around is that it is beginning to cite personal designers.

"Monte Cook will bring back overpowered wizards!"

"Mike Mearls never liked 4e!"

"Rodney Thompson ran over my dog!"

etc.

[MENTION=2067]Kamikaze Midget[/MENTION]: That's mostly due to personal blogs and the ability to google. If you want to know what Gary Gygax thought about marshmallow flakes in cocoa, you'll probably find a comment by him somewhere online. Of course, this has the advantage / disadvantage that it's easy to prove you wrong if someone else takes the time to google. But yeah...

f) Cite how <designer> ruined <class> because he personally hates it. Provide a link. Said link has to be a) a delirious rant that is typically passed around the Internet as proof said designer has lost it or b) a long-winded, unspecific treatise that doesn't state what you imply at all, and possibly even the opposite.

g) Declare XY sucks because it is old school / new school / indie / forgey / gamist / narrativist / simulationist. Imply that said categorization is an insult. Do not use the term as defined, but "as commonly used". Get into a two-page discussion about the correct definition of said term, going in wild circles that end up proving why sapient bears should have been a PC race from the start.

h) <new rule or system> is a palecopy/inferiorversion/ripoff of <old rule or system>. Provide detailed analysis of minor differences (including slight differences in terms or wording). Possibly extrapolate into why they even bothered making a new edition if they are just copying an old one.

My "favorite" edition war exchanges usually go like this:

A: [Incorrect statement about edition X.]
B: Actually [what actually happens, or what the rules actually say.]
A: [Repeats incorrect statement about edition X.]
B: As I mentioned before, [what actually happens, or what the rules actually say.]
A: [Silence.]

...

Some time later, in another thread:

A: [Exact same incorrect statement about edition X.]
B: Look, I'm not going to bother repeating myself again. Here's a link to our previous conversation on the issue.
C: [Also makes same incorrect statement about edition X.]
D: [Quotes A and C, agrees with them.]
E: [Gives XP to A, C and D, with the comment "+1".]
B: You know what, I've started another thread to explain the issue. Here's a link.

...

Some time later, in yet another thread:

F: [Same incorrect statement about edition X.]
G: [Quotes, F, agrees with him.]
B: Here. Link. Read.
H: [Gives XP to F and G, with the comment "+1".]

Starting an edition war: bad. Starting an edition war in a thread mocking edition wars? Just silly. Please, no more.

Does this mean I need to start stockpiling hats so I can survive the coming war?
