My next project (#4)!

hmm, either one would work, but maybe the extra bonus against flat-footed opponents is more appropriate.

The LIZARD is a 5-foot long chameleon-like lizard. It makes its home among rocks and rubble, where its chameleon powers allow it to blend in with its surroundings. A LIZARD is very difficult to see until it attacks. The LIZARD is a nocturnal hunter.

COMBAT
A LIZARD hides until its prey approaches, then springs out and attacks.
Ambush (Ex): A LIZARD is able to dart out of its hiding place with blinding speed, catching opponents by surprise. A LIZARD that attacks a flat-footed opponent in the same round gains a +4 circumstance bonus to its attack roll.
Skills: A LIZARD has a +4 racial bonus on Hide and Move Silently checks. *In rocky or mountainous terrain, the Hide bonus improves to +12.

It's only got 5 HD, so only 2 feats, unless we want to make one of them (how about Stealthy?) as a bonus feat. Otherwise, it looks good.

Shrill wails echoing through the night signal the arrival of a SCREAMER. SCREAMERs are smallish beasts, humanoid in appearance but with frail and spindly arms and legs. These weak limbs are nearly useless for combat and locomotion, but the SCREAMER makes up for this disability with its bat-like wings. Although SCREAMERs are fast fliers, they are not par¬ticularly agile on the wing. SCREAMERs also have a long, muscular, barbed tail that is their primary means of physical attack. It should be noted that despite its appear¬ance and name, the SCREAMER has no connection with outsiders of any type.
COMBAT
A SCREAMER is a tireless combatant, refusing to back down regardless of how the combat is progressing; it always attacks on sight. It attacks in melee with its barbed tail and screams continuously until it or its oppo¬nent is dead.
Scream (Su): The SCREAMER issues a painful howling scream that has debilitating effects on all crea¬tures within 60 feet that hear it. All creatures that do not have their ears well plugged must succeed at a Fortitude save (DC 11) each round or be stunned for the remainder of that round. Spellcasters must succeed at a Concentra¬tion check (DC 11) each round they attempt to cast a spell. Conversation, even shouting, is impossible within 60 feet of a SCREAMER while it is screaming.

good call. :) how does the scream attack look? i think some of that can be omitted, as it is now standard for sonic-based attacks.

Is the SCREAMER screaming constantly? The fact that conversation is impossible and concentration is necessary implies this, in which case it need to be specified that this is a free action for the SCREAMER and it screams continuously. The concentration and no conversation isn't really that standard for sonic effects, is it? And the first sentence could probably use a little rewriting.

Demiurge out

a SCREAMER *can* scream constantly, but it is a conscious choice to do so. free action is a good idea. the concentration and no conversation parts are to reflect the fact that this thing is so loud, it is hard to hear anything else. is there another mechanic that covers very loud, constant noises?

No, no, that sounds fine. I was just wondering if that's what you meant with the "standard for sonic attacks". It's fine as written.

Demiurge out.
