My next project (#5)!

So it's some sort of war-ape? Animal. Not too magical in its anatomy, and it isn't intelligent. OK, so it has an Int of 3. I'd rather its Int be reduced to 2, so it'd be easier to train. You might want to give it some special quality to allow it to carry Medium riders, as the RAW says that bipeds can be ridden by creatures two sizes smaller, not only one.

Feats, feats... how about Alertness, Endurance and Power Attack?

It's only got 6 skills points. It needs 11. So Listen +5, Spot +6?

it's not ape-like in the least. from the illustration, it looks like maybe... a llama with a really long neck and short front legs that it can't walk on (think of a t-rex), and a long foxlike tail.

i *could* see them as animals though i was leaning MB. they are very debatable.

Actually, from that description, keep them magical beasts. That sounds weird. And that way, they can benefit from better Hit Dice and BAB.

excellent! muhahahahaha!

i could swear i've seen riding beasts like that in a movie before, maybe Return of the Jedi.

they have no SAs or SQs so there is really little to do with them.

BEAST strike with their claws in melee combat and do so without disrupting any attacks that their riders may wish to perform.
A Medium-size or smaller creature attempting to strike a rider on BEASTback with any melee weapon other than a polearm or a longspear receives a -2 circumstance penalty to attack rolls.

i can do that; perhaps i should write up a similar item to what i just did for the last one?

copying from the last creature, how should we replace these values:

BEAST young are worth 3,000 gp apiece on the open market. Professional trainers charge 2,000 gp to rear or train an BEAST.
Carrying Capacity: A light load for an BEAST is up to 300 pounds; a medium load, 301-600 pounds; and a heavy load, 601-900 pounds.

how about this line: "Unlike most bipeds, an BEAST can carry a rider of the same size category due to its odd balance."

These BEASTS should probably be a bit more expensive, due to their higher HD. And the values of the loads should be changed, because they're bipedal. The range should be:
Light: Less than 200 lbs
Medium: 201-400 lbs
Heavy: 401-600 lbs

And there's nothing in the RAW about a penalty to hit anything that's higher than you are (as long as it's within reach). I'd cut that bit out, personally.

the hit dice are doubled from the last "BEAST"... but i would not want to double the prices from that alone. ;) how about 4000 for young and 2500 to train? maybe instead 5000 and 3000?
