"My Players Stay Out" (My Players Welcome in *this* one.)

Quasqueton

First Post
I've twice now (during my current game campaign) posted a "My Players Stay Out" thread here on ENWorld.

My most recent is here: http://www.enworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=91727

One of my Players just sent this e-mail to me in response to seeing the above thread listed on the Rules forum page:
You sadistic. . .

It is mean to post those 'my players stay out' questions like that! Now I am stuck wondering what evil, twisted, perverse thing you are up to now. ;)"
It kind of gives me a chuckle to see this reaction. I wonder, how often do you post such a thread here, and what are your Players' reactions to seeing you mine the knowledge/creativity of this site?

How do you Players feel about your DM posting a thread here and excluding you? Make you nervous?

And to add to the paranoia, how about taking a moment to go to the above thread and post something. You don't even have to post anything constructive -- just increase the reply count so it looks like I'm getting lots of juicy strategy to crush my Players. Even though my Players may see *this* thread, they won't know if the number of replies in the Rules forum is actual help or just filler. Mwahahahahaha!

I don't trust my players enough to not look at a "My players stay out" thread. So I post under a screen name that they don't know, so I can ask questions and pose potential scenarios without tipping them off to the plot of the adventure.

I think maybe it's because I couldn't resist looking into the same thread if I was a player. :\

Only two of my players come here, and usually only if I point them to a relevant thread, so I don't usually bother with the warning.

Among my players, one (Aloïsius) stopped posting there so long ago I'm not even sure he ever did, two others strongly dislike reading things in English, and for the last, it's not a question of dislike, but also of lack of skill. :D

Is it technically possible to lock certain users out of a forum? Maybe with the help of an admin?

"Hey Morrus! Can you lock Ozmar and Quasqueton and Gnimish88 out of this forum I'm going to create? They're my players and I want to plot against them. >:)"

Just a thought...

Only one of my players checks ENworld with any regularity. He's my younger brother. so all I've gotta do is tell him that I'm posting a thread he shouldn't look at. If he does, it's no problem though. If he has fun "cheating" good for him. I try to avoid the DM v/s players mentality. I don't even use a screen, so if they want to cheat at the table they free to do it ;) Maybe I'm just lucky I have players who game for the fun of it, and that the point of DnD is having fun, not "winning". Personally, I'd hate to now what was coming, since it would ruin the fun for me.

Several of my players have been to ENWorld, only one with any kind of regularity (Reddist), but aside from him, only one other has a post count of anything above 0, and it's less than 10. So, I don't worry about it too much.

Only one of my players reads EN World regularly, and I trust him... in fact, I trust all of them, but still only one reads EN World regularly. :)

I've got a running "Minions of Evil" thread that gets the stats of monsters they have faced / are about to face, so it's vital that I do trust them not to look there. They're mature enough to know it would spoil their fun, I'm sure.

(Or at least mature enough to lie to me about it. :) )
