My simple prediction about Gleemax

After poking around there, I am absolutely convinced that before long, the place will be crawling with (and dominated by) 10-12 year old Magic: the Gathering players. Ugh. I'll stay here, thanx.

That is all.

Weird. That's below the median and average ages of MTG gamers. And I'm not sure they'll be crawling -- although by that age, I'm pretty sure they can walk -- out of the MTG forums.

Not in my experience. Although I *did* once see a Magic:the Gathering player who was probably around 14. And I don't include those creepy pedophiles who play in MtG tournaments. You know who I mean: the 45 year old guys who don't bathe regularly and sit there for hours playing with the 12 year olds at their local FLGS . . .

Oh, we shall see, son. We shall see.

I don't know much about the statistics... but I think your main problem is: Young MTG-kids can easily be much more obnoxious than an older RPG-player.

The "Ignore"-list is fun! ;)

More seriously: I'll wait... and see. While I'm not a big fan of the WotC boards, there are some posters who are not 10-12 years old, and threads where you can actually mine great stuff... for example a Monster Lore thread with MMV-style lore entries for almost all older MMs.

Therefore, I'll probably look into Gleemax (ignoring the name...) and only look at the more useful/palatable stuff.

I think WOTC is over estimating how many people will actually be interested in online stuff you have to pay for. This isnt like World of War Craft of those weird real life computer worlds, where people spend 10 grand of real money on a fake house. Most Gamers tend to be rather cheap, Gleemax better cause nerdgasm's each and everytime you log on and see the new stuff for it to be worth it.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

They're doing something pretty bold, actually, and if they change a few things about it, I might be persuaded to do it.
