I understand your point of view, and it's fine to do that if the world works that way, but you should at least tell the players before they create their characters. It is really unfair to have a player set up their character, and than out of the blue tell them you are taking away four of their skill points to place in some other profession.

The fact that you will not be doing this to the female player is even worse, as the other players will resent you, and possibly her, seeing it as favoritism. Just let the players know how it works beforehand, and as long as they're mature, reasonable fellows, it should work out fine. But springing such rules on them with no forewarning is a bad idea in any case.


PS

Also, I doubt Drow societies are comprised of many Drow commoners skilled in farming and rothe herding. Drow do not take care of such tasks themselves, they employ slave labor to do it for them.
