My Vilest Review yet (long)

Does the book have any vile archery weapons?

Hell's Heart Arrow: Passes through creatures of eviul alignment so they don't offer cover bonuses or give a -4 to hit for firing intoi melee.

Spectral Arrow: This sucker deals no damage, but does bestow 2 negative levels on the target.

Quiver of lies: speak a lie and get an arrow/bolt.

Vasharan Crossbow: Heavy crossbow that every bolt it fires becomes a bolt of slaying humans.

And, like always, my miserable excuse for a FLGS doesn't have it. Or have any idea when they will.

*sigh*

I'm waiting for the waves of appology from the "BoVD will contain stats for how much damage raping children, so it's evil and we must boycot WotC!" people, but I think I'm gonna be waiting a long time.

They will fade away into the wood work. Of course a few will remain in the anti-vile mode and speak bad about the product without reading it.

Ooh. I like this one.

Nice, that was 666 post. Couldn't have planned that much better. :D

I also forgot to mention it's an invisible brilliant energy arrow. Yours for the cheap price of 2560gp. I think that's a bargain.

How do the descriptions of the demon lords compare to the descriptions of, say, the gods in DDG? I'm hoping for a lot more than one paragraph of non crunch. You say the description is well done, is that jsut the mechanics or is that the evocative nature of their descriptions as well?

The mechanics are well done. However, I was referring to the descriptions. There is much more then in D&Dg. I'll use Demogorgon, the first demon lord in the book, as an example. First we get the demon lord's stat block. Then we get five paragraphs (41 lines) of info concenrning the demon lord, his layer of the abyss, his main foes, and his symbol. The combat section is next and before it defines all his special moves, it talks about his personal fighting style, who usually does the fighting for him, as well as what spells he would have active if he does fight someone. THen we get to the goals section. After that we get to his cults and servants. All in all it covers about 5 pages. More then half is devoted to the stat blocks of the demon lord and his followers, but there is a lot more info then D&Dg. However, it is very apperant that a 500pg book could have been filled up with just info on the Demon Lords and Arch Devils. THere is a lot of information that can easy be expanded on.

i was not even considering picking this up before it was released and people here started talking about what was actually in the book. i was not one of those who said the book would kill the hobby or that it should never have been concieved but i had little interest in what i thought the subject matter would probably be. i should have had more faith in the author, i shuld have known he would not put out a piece of garbage. mock me as you see fit. i will probably be buying it in a month when my used book store/comic/cardgame and rpg product store finally gets a copy in.

still, the nudity is not nessisary as far as i am concerned, i'm not offended by it but why bother? it's just one more reason for little jimmy's mom to toss out his rpg book collection and keep him from playing the game. i know it says that it is for mature readers but kids are going to get this book. would it have been a poorer book without the nudity? or the gore for that matter? how very north american of me to throw that out there as an afterthought :) either could have the same effect. beastyality is one of many topics i would have preffered to see let on the cutting room floor but that's just my personal taste again.

Crothian, you didn't even mention your delight over having a new prestige class for your oozemaster to play with! I'm shocked!

I try not to have personal playing references in my reviews, but don't think I haven't planned for this. Oh, yes, I will be a Thrall of Juiblex :D
