...But...the only thing more adorable than a gnome is a blue gnome.

But smurfs are smaller than gnomes (3 apples high), as in diminutive.

When gnomes make their debut, I would either like them to have closer ties to Fey, or Elemental Earth.

Likewise. But don't you mean 3? Elf & Eladrin, and Drow would make 3.

I wouldn't want Warforged or half-vampire, because warforged are too specific to Eberron, and we already have one half-evil angsty race in the tieflings.

I wouldn't mind seeing Changelings or Shifters. Sure they're Eberron races too, but they fit much more seamlessly into traditional fantasy settings.

I did not choose warforged because it's Eberron, Eberron is not that unpopular. I put it in the pool because many peoples find them to be "robots" aka "not traditional d&D fantasy"

Drow or Orcs. I don't want the classic bad guys of D&D as playable races in the PHB - it makes them nigh-unusable as "the bad guys you can slaughter without qualms", in exactly the same way Klingons were forever changed the moment Worf was added to the crew for Next Generation.

Which is the exact reason I would LOVE Orcs in the PHB.

If I want bad guys the PCs can slaughter without qualms, then I can just use humans with a sufficiently developed "evil plot". I don't need orcs for that. Bring on the orcs as PCs!

I voted Drow on the poll. Drow are overrated, and uninteresting to me.

Before I saw the options I was prepared to vote Drow (not becasue of any drow hate...just 4 elf races would be too much). Then I saw Catfolk......

I HATE animal races, soooo often they are just not done right. There are a few exceptions (minotaurs and Gnolls), but I really hate catfolk.
