mystic ranger/scout feats

NightCrawler

First Post
Ok guys, recently i started a game playing a mystic ranger (from dragon magazine)/scout...
The idea is to make him able to fire as many arrows as possible on one or multiple targets...
The question is about the feats i must take to achieve that...
Can you tell me some good ones??
Until now i am thinking of: Swift hunter, PBS, rapid shot, manyshot, greater manyshot, penetrating shot...

What about the ranger spells?? I think arrow storm is really good (i heard that it stucks with manyshot and rapid shot...)

the rest of the build is actually really along the lines of what you have.

The ranger/scout in our party is running a crossbow build so unless you want to change your character concept.

Anything else??
You won't need anything else. Heaps of damage with Imp Skirmish against all kinds of favored enemies... Swift Hunter takes care of undead and constructs if you pick them.

Our ranger5/scout5 has Fav Enemy humans +6, constructs and undead +2... sometimes he uses Rapid Shot (esp vs humans), sometimes +5d6 skirmish damage and next level he'll take Greater Manyshot... he's called the running ballista in our group. He just bought boots of speed (for Haste as a free action, enough for the day usually) to up his Rapid Shot attacks. Good strength, a hobogobo grandbow (with overpull option for double damage while you take non-lethal damage) and the hobo high dex make him hit anything for loads of damage. 4 arrows at +15 and higher (at least).

His ranger level 1 spells are usually the ones that increase his range increment and take care of concealment and/or cover. Complete Adventurer, IIRC.

He uses the PHB2 variant with no animal companion but Distracting Shot.

Don't forget to put a good enhancement bonus on your bow, you'll need it vs Sunder.

Edit: If you have some feats left, Bo9S has a few that might fit. Like that +1d6 damage in the first round and the Desert Wind feats (extra damage and AC if you move more than 10ft).

Yupp, hobgoblin.

Overpull:
Don't know anymore from where I stole it.
It is an special ability of the bow that causes a -2 to hit, double damage (additional dice are not multiplied). If overpull is used, the PC takes the halved damage (rounded up) as non-lethal damage (due to exhaustion), Fort DC 15 half (e.g. 1/4 of the caused damage).

That ability looks crazily powerful, but in game it has proven to be rather ok since the archer is pretty soon k.o. if he uses it too often. Just give him enough opponents and he'll be using it only in emergency cases.

Μan that 's awesome... Was that from a book or something?
And if the ranger makes myltishot does the double dmg applies in all arrows fired in this way?

Yupp. But don't forget to roll the damage for all the missing arrows too... and he'll be unconscious pretty fast!

Manyshot or Gr. Manyshot plus the additional -2 to hit for overpull makes hitting hard. And I forgot to mention that the overpull option adds another -2 to hit to the equation... e.g. -4 to hit with overpull, -6 to hit with Rapid Shot...

I am not sure from where I have it. It may have even been posted here on the board in the houserules or in some pdf.

Our hobogobo player usually describes it like the Uruk-hai killing Boromir. Aching bow... A few weeks ago he killed a treeant from more than 300ft away who was beating up the other PCs. Two howling arrows crashing into the walking tree and he went down in splinters.
