Tom Ryan, of New Haven Games, launched two successful Kickstarter projects for his company's Myth & Magic line of 2nd edition AD&D retroclones. The Player's Guide project is, as of now, a year and a half behind schedule with a vast majority of the project's backers still waiting to receive their books. Tom Ryan has shown, through backer updates, that the books are printed and has made claims to have shipped out nearly 90% of backer rewards as of last October... even though only a dozen or so backers out of over 400 have reported receiving books.
Now he is selling the books to 3rd party vendors and directly through Amazon.com, rather than honoring his obligation to his financial backers and shipping those books to them:
Player's Guide
Player's Journal
Practices like this put future RPG Kickstarters at risk by making gamers reluctant to fund potential scams such as this.
