Drat! Too late by four, at least. :)

How about Lupech (combination of lupine and pech)?

Alternately, something that plays off their living in burrows. Or in the north. Wendigger?

Why not pronounce the w as a v? Frazwerg sounding like Frahzvurg.
Yeah, /fratsfErg/. It didn't occur to me to specify that I would keep the original pronunciation.

"Bearded Burrowers" certainly fits a certain trend in D&D - the descriptive, two-word name protocol advocated in the build-your-own-monster article in Dragon at the advent of 3.0.

Lupech is cool, despite the total lack of anything to do with wolves.

"Dwolve," to me, assume that these creatures think of themselves as dwarf/wolverines, which I've never liked. I always figured that centaurs think of themselves as centaurs rather than as "horse/men" and humans think of themselves as humans, rather than "proto-gith" or "half-divine chimpanzees with the domestic creature template."

I kind of like "Gulo," or "Gulnananthi," but then, I'm never one to shy away from Greek or Latin in my game.

"Wenndigger,""Serval," or even "Wennserval" might be cool. I need to be sure that players can remember it without associating in phonetically with something they'll make fun of.

I'm interested in knowing how to pronounce Карлик росомахи.

In the end, it might not matter what I name them, as my wife has vowed to call them "Schniktschnikts."

Nothing wrong with a race named Schnik. Especially if they kill you when they hear you schniker... ;)

What's the favoured class of such a creature? Inquiring minds want to know... (although I'm guessing fighter or barbarian)

I referenced the translator at dictionary.com and got:
German "wolverine man" - Vielfrassmann
Just to mention, the literal translation for wolverine in german is "eats lots"

I forgot to include that as I don't use standard preferred class rules, but I imagine that the template probably calls for fighter, as that's the dwarves' preferred class, but I would probably go with barbarian. It makes sense with the disposition I would expect for this race and with strength, dexterity, and constitution modifiers like this bad boy has, it would be a real winner.

I imagine this guy loping along through the mountains (at 30' vs only 20'), made up like a battlerager, and harnessed to a sled dragging behind him a haul of weapons, treasure, and uncured meats.

I should mention that I have not settled on the name Gulotaur. It's functional and descriptive, but by wife hates it as it reminds her of girallon, competitor for the world's dumbest monster.
