Naming resource

Some five or six years ago I stumbled on the kabalarians site which has been a great resource to me for years in coming up with given names sorted by culture for my campaign settings.

However, it's recently turned into a pay site, and I'm not interested in paying just to see a list of names when I'm sure I can find one for free. And sho nuff, I seem to have found a worthy successor to the old kabalarians page: http://www.behindthename.com which also features a pretty cool random name generator. Check it out!

I found the "behind the name site" just the other day- extremely handy when you're trying to generate names for 100 Knights of pseudo-Arthurian descent. I clicked the buttons for Welsh, Roman, Celtic, English, and Scottish names, and 100 clicks later, I had an army.

Beats the Kabalarians any day of the week, IMHO.

I'm so glad you posted this, Joshua! I was disappointed when the Kabalarians site became a pay one too. But this is an excellent alternative.

I concur with what he said. BTW, if anyone is interested in other Name sites, there's a thread on them in the Conan forum over at the Mongoose boards
