NaNoWriMo 2006

I am so far behind... I blame the True20 Companion (you'll see).

Tomorrowy (Sunday) is a free day, so I'll be seeing if I can make the 7,200 word push I need to catch up.

I'm working on completing, or at least adding onto, a novel that I've started. So we'll see how that goes, ;)

This is my first attempt, so I hope I at least make it most of the way, :\

Oh man. Why can't people ever start these threads BEFORE November? I didn't find out it was occurring until like November 23rd last year. VERY early November 5th this year...

Hey, Michael! Good to see you, finally. I have you as a buddy and I kept seeing your word count at 0 and wondering, is he in this year? :)

Welcome to Week 2, everyone, where the desire to quit is strong and must be fought off. Plow on, folks, plow on.

Hiya!

The reason I didn't start immediately was because I was at the 2006 World Fantasy Convention, shmoozing my little heart out and trying to get to know all the names of editors, agents, and publishers. That set me back considerably in terms of getting a head-start on NaNoWriMo but it hopefully helped my future writing career!

Ironically, the novel I'm writing for NaNoWriMo is apparently more popular with agents than my fantasy novel.

For what it's worth, there is a good market for (very) high quality novellas: The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction publishes a number of 50k pieces throughout the year. That said, sword and sorcery will be a hard sell there -- they typically look for stuff closer to magical realism. But if you're the next Neil Gaimain, keep them in mind.

And ditto on being sorry I didn't realize this was starting until mid-November (although the election was kicking my butt too much to focus on anything else). Next year, though, next year ...

Dude, SWEET! It's supposed to be a small number of attendees and about the best place to be if you are a writer in this field. How did you get in?

Ironic, nah. Isn't that always the case?

Sorry I missed this thread when it started... I was busy on my nano this month and didn't read many threads.
