Narnia D20 RPG?

Given the anticipated "Chronicles of Narnia" film about to be released and the hype that surrounds it... are there any known plans for a D20 Sourcebook with a Narnia setting? Thanks in advance!

This could be good.

I haven't heard of any. The first thing would be to get the license, and I don't know who owns Lewis' works.

You know, the thought just occurred to me that this could be good for bringing in kids to the rpg industry. If someone did a rpg tied to the movie and Lewis' works it would be very good. The movie looks like it'll have kids in droves to see it.

It's too bad that somethig was announced several months ago. Whomever had the license could have announced a core book to release when the movie released. They could have done really well, unlike some other game companies with LotR.

Well I wish they would, I would buy it.

But since they didn't.

I am almost finished with my own UNOFFICIAL True20 Narnia supplement.

I think it will be done before the Movie opens. Nothing fancy.

Couple of Creatures.
Discussion of Themes in Narnia.
One Character class: The Child.
A brief Geography of Narnia and Environs

I will post a link here when it is finished.

d :D

It doesn't have to be a children's RPG, although it certainly COULD be. The setting could be during the Pevensie's Reign as High Kings and Queens of Narnia. There was quite a bit of evil still lingering in the form of the White Witch's scattered army... not to mention many of the countries surrounding Narnia were not exactly "friendly". Anyway, I think it would be an interesting setting if done up right. :D

Well, D20M assumes all characters--even those with a Student background--are at least 15+ years of age. I guess you could have young teenage heroes that simply have no background, but kids 11 and under aren't even allowed to have an Ordinary class. So, a D20 Narnia, Harry Potter, Jumanji, etc. would require a little modification.

Given that Hasbro paid $500,000,000 dollars for a ten year Narnia licensing ageement, I find it unlikely they somehow overlooked the RPG rights in that deal. They are calculating and vicious, not stupid (and I mean that in a genuinely complimentary way).

Which pretty much narrows it down to one company that even remotely has a shot at doing it.

Me, I'd be shedding Hecatomb like it was dog poo on fire to work towards a suitable corporate image for hosting that product line.

Heh...

If that's the case, then it suggests to me that, for whatever reason, the license didn't include RPGs (because, if it did, you'd think they'd have the book out now, or at least have announced it, to take advantage of the PR around the movie release). It's entirely possible that the license holders didn't want the property connected to RPGs (keep in mind that the books are written, in part, as allegories of Christianity, and some Christians have issues with RPGs).
