Wow, that's a bit far-fetched. Must have been a slow day at NASA.

I think this is a smart announcement. Every time NASA posts a pic from some planet, people find "evidence" of life in the rock formations. A humanoid face, a walking bigfoot, a dead rat, etc. By releasing pics with rock formations that look like silly things, they weaken the conspiracy theories. (Maybe?) Besides, it is neat.

I'm not sure conspiracy theories can be weaken for those who want to believe in them in the first place. They are not rational. Take Obama's (this is not political) bodyguard that supposedly looked like a reptilian because his cloaking device briefly malfunctioned. Where do you start if you want to debunking that?
