'Natural' Treasures

Coffee - rare or unheard of. This could be a maker too or cup set if there a ritual for pratice.

Tobacco - same as coffee but also think cuban cigars, item being hard to get because of policy.

Chocolate and Wine - Item is unavailable because of limited growth of plants and harvest.

Sexual aids (drugs or toys) - Hey it was a big problem and still is, people all over the world look for ways to keep going.

Animals skins and feathers - it is the latest rage, demand is high, fashion demands it.

Anyone who's played EarthDawn knows the value of "bits" since they have "treasure worth legend." Since we had two ED campaigns before 3e, the party's prone to picking up trophies. Thing's they've acquired:

Amberite: a resin created by certain large insects that resembles amber. The party took the 8' diameter, 3' thick slab of it the bugs used to seal a passageway and sold it for quite a profit. The insects decided to just collapse the tunnel.

gazelle: they accidentally spooked a large herd near a sarengetti watering hole and killed about two dozen of the things with the wall of stone they hid behind. The party skinned and took the horns of the dead gazelle and the dire cape buffalo killed in the stampede.

Winter wolf skins: giants + winter wolves = rugs & really big trophies.

Purple worm poison glands: Poison's expensive but most of the cost IMC is due to the risk to the crafter. It was still useful as a trade for other finished poisons.

Behir head & hide: self explanatory.

Fiendish giant snake wings: turned into a disturbing but cool parasol by the gnome.

Fiendish giant snake skin: made into really disturbing footy-pajamas by the same gnome.

The face of a krenshar: "Hey, they skin themselves!"

Bulette armor: for decorative shields & standards

Hydra heads (~30): First lesson, never let the fighter who just got great cleave close with a hydra until you're sure it's not lernian. Second lesson: Hydra heads make great torch sconces.

"Now, having defeated the Hill Giant Priestess, you open up her closet and find a massive long attached to a harness of leather straps. As you near the 'business' ends begins to hover towards you & attack. What are you wearing for armor again?"

"+3 Leather. Why?"

"Oh, nothing, just this Animated Object has Sunder and needs to 'remove some barriers' before if can begin its 'Special' Grapple Attack. Roll Iniative."

"HEY! Wait a minute! It's attacking me WHERE??!!"

Gotta love those Huge Animated Sonic Strap-Ons +3.

Or, worse. "You find a copy of the very rare first edition Playorc, with Mammoth Tuskroe in the centerfold. She also spills over onto page 32-36."

The coolest natural treasure I've given my Eberron party: The last Syranian lily in existence (the rest were obliterated in the destruction of Cyre). The lily itself is encased in psionic quintessence, which is then encased in glass.

I haven't decided what it's for yet, but I'm thinking that it has certain properties as a spell component that will have an organization or two chasing after them...
