NC Game Day XIV (September 22): Cuz' GenCon Just Wasn't Enough!

I had a great time!

As I suspected, The Universe is an excellent GM. He handles a superheroes game as well as I've seen one handled (every bit as good as Piratecat). My character was tremendous fun to play and is in no way affilliated with Tsul Kalu. I guarantee it.

Thanks to all who played in Kobolds Ate My Baby. You guys made a fun game even funner to run. ALL HAIL KING TORG!

Well, my first NC Game Day was a hell of a lot of fun. Thanks to Henry, Gerald, Chris, and Steven for two great games of Dread, and thanks for the event organizers for putting it all together! I'll definitely be there next year!

Thanks! The game was (as per usual) incredibly fun to run; all my players were a blast! The Frontiersman (in no way affiliated with the ravenous, bestial Tsul'Kalu) was incredibly deadly, the Jersey Devil was all sorts of sexy (except for the tail), Johnny Appleseed lived up to his hippie heritage with aplomb (and Shrubzilla lives on forever in our hearts), Blackbeard's Ghost was hilariously pirate-tastic (particularly when possessing Lemuel Gullivar), the Minuteman played true to type (especially when acting as a tent stake for the aforementioned Gullivar), the Lantern shone the light of liberty on...everybody (and helped create an impressive wave of effluvia when it really counted), and the Swamp Fox found sweet, sweet revenge twice (and saved a painting from the aforementioned wave of effluvia). Great jobs all around.

KAMB was hilarious, and evil...especially because you made my wife cry, Rel. My only regret was that I didn't give the baby to Stalin. Words I never thought I'd say. Or type.

Thank you to one and all who I got to game with yesterday, because I had a great time. K'trava, and Rich, I'm sorry you both couldn't make it; we did soldier on with a last-minute drop-in gamer, and two characters did lose their lives (keeping the tradition of my AD&D one-shots alive and well), but the goal was met, and the threat was put down. The poor paladin and gnome thief found that the biggest threats in a dungeon are NOT the monsters. :) Thanks to Templetroll, "Paladin's Leap Chasm" will be memorialized by me from now on...

Rafael, I had a lot of fun with Dread/Pandemonium. Great concept, and one I hope to see keep developing as time goes on. "Eric's Grandma" (the name we have for the Code of Conduct) might frown on me describing some of the rules I enjoyed most from it, but it was a fun way to describe a character whose very M.O. and existance was a "broken" one from which he sought redemption. Here's hoping it keeps doing well.

I'm dying here. I'd have loved to be in that MnM game!
At the moment, it's looking somewhat unlikely that I'll run that specific adventure again...but the Culper Ring lives on! I have several ideas for sequels in mind. If you can make it down to a gameday, I'll try to run one or the other then...and if you can't, I can always save you a spot at Gen Con. :)

Yup, both games I was in were a blast and it was great to meet more folks from ENW/CM. :)

You're welcome, Henry but let;s face it - the dice don't lie! When a gnome jumps from one side of a chasm and the paladin jumps from the other side and BOTH roll a 1!!

You'll note that Henry said two characters died. let me add that my wizard did not die BUT he did the typically Templetroll type of 1e move of
getting a piece of loot, knowing about half he should about how it worked, tried something 'clever'....
.... and went straight to Hell!! LOL

The Universe - was Tsul'Kalu = U Lak Lust backwards significant?

Not as far as I know (but I wish I was all subtle like that). ;)

Tsul 'Kalu is/was a "real" mythological creature with Cherokee roots...see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsul_'Kalu for more information.

Ah, cool, thanks. I often check words or names backwards to see if there is something to it. It works with Gygax's names sometimes, like Drawmij = Jim Ward sort of thing. Guess not in this case. :)

My first trip to NC Gameday was whopping good time! I didn't sign-up ahead of time to play any particular game, so thanks to Henry and Torm for letting me "sit in." The Chasm of Death and the "you guys lasered in on the end of the game" where fond memories indeed!
