Wow, thank god there's a 19th level cleric who was one of the survivors...

Just got done running tonight's session of Return to the Tomb of Horrors... by the end, a cohort, two npcs and a pc were all dead. Two pcs left standing, and one of those frozen in ice while an undead life drained him.

Eeek!!!

Just felt the need to share that.

Very nicely done. I appreciate a good TPK, or near TPK. I have two under my belt from the past three years.

(Two PCs have died in the past two sessions in my game. I'm happy again!)

After my 10th level PCs (6 of them) walked all over 6 Red Slaad, 2 blues, and a green (which would be something like a CR 13-15 encounter), I've decided to significantly up the CRs of my creatures. From now on, my party isn't going to fight anything less than CR 10, and I'll have at least a half a dozen of them. I'm going to throw something around a CR 20 encounter at them this weekend. Let's see what the result is. (and this will be after they've already depleted a bunch of spells in another battle)

It was the fight with the Lord High Exultant of Moil that did it- well, frankly, the vestige started the process...

My version of the LHE was a 13th-level fighter swordwraith with my Moilian template stuck on him for a whopping CR 26... even so, I didn't expect him to deal out almost 150 hp with a single critical blow several times a round!
