[Necromancer Games] Announcing 'Tome of Horrors II'!

One of the things that I thought made the Tome of Horrors is that it was 1st edition content update to 3rd edition rules.

From what it sounds like here, all of this material will be new.

Are there any plans to cover the numerous monsters not covered in any 3.0/3.5 product yet?

helloooo, creature catalog! ;)

i'm still workin hard! or is that hardly workin? you may not see your fave conversions in print, but they will always be available free on the web. :)

I don't think so amigo. There were many, many monsters from Dragon and other sources not tapped in the Tome of Horrors. I know that from my old Dragon Creature Collection and of course the Dragon's Bestiary, that there are many more creatures to go.

see my above message. :D

Seeing as how WotC reneged on the plan wherein the critters Necromancer converted to d20 wouldn't appear in a WotC book, and also seeing as how there was so much carping about "overlap," I don't see why Necromancer would bother trying to convert earlier-edition critters again. I know I wouldn't. It seems like it would be more of a headache than it's worth. Maybe everyone could petition WotC to convert the monsters that have yet to be given the d20 treatment?

This may be 100% true.

However the sales numbers indicate otherwise.

Hopefully Necromancer's own name will insure that people looking for that 1st edition feel won't overlook this book.

Having said that, there is some intense competition for a book like this ranging from Creature Collection Revised, Creature Collection III, Warcraft Monster Compendium, Warlords Monster Compnedium, Atlas' own Bestiary (released not too long ago) and other sources of NEW monsters.

People love classic stuff.

Well- I wasnt thinking of Dragon and stuff when I said that. :) If ya wanna include other sources, then yeah- there are a lot more out there. :)

The reason *I* like Tome of Horrors so much is because it is pure, unabridged, sweet, sweet open content. I can use it all. That makes things *so* easy. (As much as I like the Penumbra Fantasy Bestiary, I didn't even read the non-OGC stuff, so some of the creatures remain unusable. And the Warcraft Manual of Monsters is ruled out, since it's official D&D stuff and probably doesn't include *any* open content. So I won't use it even though I worked on the liscence. :P)

I think the only people who could really answer this is Clark Peterson and Bill Webb. Both have been very clear that the reason they do what they do is because it's fun, not because they make their living from it. It may simply not be fun to deal with another round of headaches along the lines of the overlap controversy that arose around the ToH and later WotC books.

Unless you mean 2e modules when you say "ages past", didn't we hit just about all the old 1e stuff the first time around? :)

I have to admit that a lot of stuff was covered in the first ToH and I love it for that. OTOH there are still a lot of OD&D creatures that are still missing and would make sweet content and help me convert my OD&D to 3E. Mujina, Devil Swine, Geonids and Mold Demon are just a few that I would have been delighted to have stats for. Nevertheless, the stats for giant toads and the soul eater helped me a lot, so thanx for those. :D

I'll take a look at ToH2 (a very close at the binding ;)) and will then decide to buy or not. If the new monsters are of the same excellent quality as in ToH1 and a lot of 'old' monsters to help me convert modules I'd be happy to hand over my money.

The production of a sequel was all but inevitable, given the rampaging success of the first ToH. So I'm not surprised at all. I'm delighted just the same, however :D Chalk up another sale (assuming quality and production values equal or exceed the first).

Just two requests:
#1: More updated creatures from the days of yore, please! It's good to see new stuff, but I'd prefer a mix of new and old.

#2: Good binding. Very important. :)

Cheers!
